Soprano Renata Tebaldi and tenor Franco Corelli were two of the most exciting singers to emerge from Italy in the period following the Second World War, and each played a major role in defining that period as a "Golden Age."

Tebaldi possessed a voice of angelic beauty, which encompassed the entire dynamic range, from a delicate pianissimo to a brilliantly focused forte. Corelli's voice was freely produced from top to bottom, capable of ringing out in thrilling declamation, as well as caressing a melodic line in rich, warm tone. Both Tebaldi and Corelli exuded great measures of charm, charisma, glamour and refinement, traits which are fully evident in these rare television performances.
