Description Scenes & Extras

John Churchill, born in 1650, was to become one of the greatest military leaders in eighteenth century history, changing the face of battle tactics forever.

Churchill grew up during the last years of the English Civil Army and craved a military career. As a young man, he became embroiled in the colorful court of Charles II, initially serving the Duke of York and later becoming the lover of Lady Castlemaine. This liaison was to set him up financially for life.

He rose rapidly through the ranks of the army, serving in numerous lengthy foreign campaigns, but his true genius emerged in the War of the Spanish Succession, at the famous Battle of Blenheim (1704). Even Napoleon studied the Duke of Marlborough’s innovative tactics.

Titles in the series include:
D7117 Julius Caesar
D7118 Oliver Cromwell
D7119 The Duke of Marlborough
D7120 Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson
